Research and Development Chemist (Sealants and Adhesives)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new raw materials for product development and possible raw material substitution.
  • Evaluate qualities of existing products and new products against competitor.
  • Revise and improve qualities of existing product whenever necessary.
  • Conduct research and formulate new products coordinating with sales and marketing team and Technical Manager.
  • Perform physical testing on liquid properties and film properties of applied new developed product.
  • Set standards for the new and existing products including the shelf life of the products.
  • Design manufacturing procedure for the new developed product to train the production personnel on efficient processing.
  • Supervises first production batch of new developed product to train the production personnel on efficient processing.
  • Prepares samples of new developed product for customer's evaluation.
  • Coordinates with sales and marketing team forany concerns with regards to new projects and samples submitted.
  • Create and revise BOM, test procedures, and specifications whenever there are changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. (Registered Chemist)
  • At least 1–3 years of experience in Research and Development (R&D), Product Development, Formulation, Quality Assurance, or Technical Services, preferably in the coatings, paints, adhesives, construction chemicals, or manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in product formulation, raw material evaluation, product testing, and process development.
